My tool making progress

Postby Wayne H » Fri Mar 17, 2017 9:28 am

I have started creating tools for myself, with some large amounts of guidance over WhatsApp by Tiaan Burger (hugely appreciated)

My hammer progress (Made from unhardened 5160)

And in my hand:

And my progress on the tagane thus far (all made from 01 tool steel)

Kebori (its not right yet, I have to fix up my angles and lines):
The Side:
The Top:
The Bottom:
The Front:

And then the kata-kiri (its 4mm wide):
The Side:
The Top:
The Bottom:

Both tagane have a angle of 60deg between the two faces.

Hi Wayne,
making ones own tools is a pretty good exercise.
Maybe its due the photo but it seems the hammers face is not right-angled to its main axis.
If so it could cause some trouble when in use.
